Just a couple of clarifications:- 1) Have you got the source of the document in one of OOo's internal formats? Or have you only got the .pdf file which was created in OOo? 2) Do the targets of the links in the document only have to link to places in the document or do they have to point at places elsewhere on the WWW? > Maybe I should use scribus but that does not jump between text & > endnotes/footnotes like oo does while drafting a document. Scribus works very well importing text, so you could use a multi-file text editor such as kate, or xemacs etc. and import the texts once you have finished.
What you want to do is very easy in PdfLatex, and from an initial look at the latest version of LyX it would seem that it's supported. Note that I'm being a bit vague because I've not actually done it. http://www.lyx.org/ -- CS
