I downloaded the server edition. sshd works from bootup. Unfortunately it doesn't have dvb setup properly. It detects the SkyStar2 card, but doesn't set up the device nodes properly. Also there are no addin modules for any of the standard dvb apps like dvbtune, dvbscan and dvbstream. Luckily the forums revealed a script to make the device nodes. Also binaries of the dvb apps compiled on my gentoo box work fine on the slax system, there is a well defined system to make "modules" that can be loaded into the live file system, and its easy to remaster the cd to include those modules. I also got a prompt response on the forum to my question about how to run a script on bootup. In short, 4 days of part time fiddling has delivered me a bootable cd that includes the apps I wanted, boots and allows me to log in via ssh to run the commands I want. Not a coaster in sight!
