You may have accidentally clicked your middle mouse button, maybe?  A
nice feature of OpenOffice I discovered recently is the way that
whatever you have highlighted in some other programme is pasted in to
your document with a middle mouse click, there is not the need to have
clicked the copy button or used ctrl + c.  Your situation may be related
