As of my experience jpilot is much more reliable. If you have trouble with that you probably have a PalmOS > 5.2 and need to upgrade to an unstable version of pilot-xfer. I tried it with a T5 and it worked well. I still have to use VMware Server for my Sony NW-A1000 MP3-Player.
I've used Vmware workstation and vmware player to do the job.
