After changing my domain from deepthought.rr.nu to
neuromancer.selfip.biz I could change the name of my laptop/web-server
accordingly.

Ok, that's better than putting the change into
/usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/10-storage-policy.fdi . I can
disable HAL's support for CDs there. Does anyone how to only disable
logging or know where to find a good manual for HAL or syslogd?
