The MAC numbers.
ifconfig eth1 on my machine says:-
eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:A0:24:AA:DA:45
          inet addr:192.168.2.12 Bcast:192.168.2.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:3608 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:3369 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:15 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:2606371 (2.4 Mb) TX bytes:561619 (548.4 Kb)
          Interrupt:11 Base address:0x300

the Hex number forllowing HWaddr i.e, in this case, 00:A0:24:AA:DA:45 is the
unique MAC number. It's often printed somewhere on the card.
