BSD's hardware support is definitely worse than Linux's. pfsense is BSD,
and one of the network cards I pulled out of the drawer wouldn't go with
BSD and bandwidth control, but was fine on Linux.

What annoys me is that the *ix field is splintered enough, no need for
yet another mainstream version (Billy will be rubbing his hands). And,
as you say, the basic command line tools are annoyingly different.

Only because desktop-*BSD is a contradiction in terms, if your
prediction is true at all in the first place.
