Hey, I am trying to install SuSE 10.0 using a network install CD and nfs. I have done this dozens of times, but on this particular server I'm having problems.
The server has dual onboard Intel Gigabit Ethernet NIC's. When I boot from the CD and select an nfs install it fails to get an address via DHCP. I can see that the e1000 module is loaded ok. I let it go in to manual install mode and give it a static IP address. Next I let the installer mount the installation directory via nfs. 'mount' shows that it is mounted, and I can list the contents of the directory. The installer says "Cannot find the image. Check the directory specification". I accept the error message and it unmounts the directory and I'm back where I started. As a test I have booted the same network install CD on a different PC. It gets an address from DHCP, mounts the nfs share and brings up the installation GUI. The problem seems to be specific to the SuSE 10.0 and 9.2 network install CD's because I can boot a Knoppix CD on the same box and it gets an IP address via DHCP and I can mount the nfs share. Does anyone have any idea how I should go about fixing this? -- Later David Kirk
