arts is a pig. I am surprised you bother with it at all. it will not be
in kde4 from what I understand.

alsa has had the ability to play sounds from multiple inputs
simultaneously for quite a while now - google for dmix. Yes there are
still issues with oss-only software, but its still better than arts.
