Simple answer... don't! RH9 is absolutely ancient, and only used by those pain 
in the *ss  colo's in the us who are just milking old technology for all it's 
worth. If you want to stay with RH, then either use CentOS ( 
http://www.centos.org ) or Fedora Core 5 ( http://www.redhat.com/fedora ). 
Given that you're installing on a system with SATA, there's no need to go back 
in history.

Using RedHat products will limit your support from the group - I think there's 
2 of us who use it - so you may want to look at (K)Ubuntu ( http://kubuntu.org 
and http://www.ubuntu.com ) as alternatives, as they are the current flavour of 
the month.

I'm always happy to download stuff for those with limited bandwidth, being as 
I'm a sysadm with unlimited access!
