The dust is minor. It looks like the video chip fan had stopped working. 'HP'-local has it for servicing now: $80 just to look :-/

I tried opening it up. After c20 screws & still no budging of the case base, I passed it on to those who understand laptop construction better than I (& have a supply of proprietary parts).
