Thanks Ian, I already checked those things. I found this that describes my problem almost exactly. http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=70018 The problem is not bad enough for me to consider installing a non standard package as a solution. I am running Ubuntu 6.06, OOo 2.0.2-2ubuntu12.1 I'm pretty sure a recent change/upgrade caused my breakage, as I'm sure "it worked last time" (do I hear tech support groaning?). I.e. I printed my daughters birthday invitations OK, but now it comes to the thankyou notes it doesn't work. Sigh. I'll keep looking.
