And what's the recipe to get tyro geeks to pay attention while they are

Send them to linux call instead and get the linux geek to teach them linux.
You don't mean a lesson on "HOWTO - read a manual page" do you? :-)/2
Are you refering to my 'Library Time' content each week Chris?

Yes, each week we spend 15 to 20 minutes looking at resources in the Library and one the library web site.

When the group started only one of the students had a library card and knew how to use the reservation system.

Now they all have cards, even the out of towners.

We also spend some time reviewing different book and talking about the importance of reading books because it's a major income source for OSS.

Or are you talking about the content from Lesson One?

Yes, in lesson one they learnt about the man system in Linux.

LES class is 10:30am - 2pm every thursday and I'm still waiting for your
presentation Chris :)
And what do you think the material in the presentation should be?
I've got the vnc2swf thingie to go, but need to know HOWTO add sound and convert to an avi. Got any ideas?

That sounds like a fantastic idea once you've got the audio side sorted out.

I can do an over view of what vnc, swf and avi are the week before.

Or... you could do a lession on setting up vnc and more on x and kde first if you wanted to?

Cheers Don
