No, I've been there. For the rank beginner (je ne parly benn le
franglais), I found English more user-friendly. You only have to learn
how to open the GUI tool ("Parlez vous Anglais?", with an apologetic
smile), and generally things became pretty user-friendly. Of course, I
also worked on my French, because I wanted to open up the power of that
language, and there's a lot to be said for continuing to learn the
command-line.
