Just some thought's on Ubuntu 6.06:

I recently downloaded an iso file from Ubuntu.com/downloads and have since copied the image to CD.  I've changed the boot sequence and booted from the disk but not much happens.  There doesn't seem to be any actual installation process.  It seems to run (VERY slowly) and comes up with what appears to be a default desktop and admin tools etc.  Am I doing anything wrong?  I'm trying to install it (without stuffing XP) and repartition the hard disk from 80 gig down to about 60 to leave a tidy spare 10 gig for Ubuntu.  Any thoughts?  In case you're wondering my machine is a Dell 1.8 Intel, 256 RAM and 80 gig drive.  I realise this is only very basic but I'm assuming this is enough to run Ubuntu.  I'm not looking to do anything amazing with it by the way, simply tinker and try and get the some suitable drivers so (hopefully) all my hardware will work.

PLEASE HELP!!

Regards,

Chris.
