I seriously doubt though, that Microsoft will be able to reimplement the full 
scope of their "Open" XML anywhere else; and I doubt they're even interested.  
It took a bit of badgering (from others and a little bit from me) to get them 
to change their document controls from ActiveX by default, to something much 
more workable.
