Have you tried mrtg? It's cfgmaker tool will scrape the snmp oid's from
most things. For that matter it's a good tool all round if you just
want pretty graphs of traffic...
for e.g: http://weather.selwyn.govt.nz/mrtg is some of the stuff at
work.

It does far, far more than just make graphs ( IIRC that's a quote from the
homepage? ). For a start, you can replace the snmp data acquisition with any
program or script that you want, which means that you can monitor absolutely
anything at all - I've monitored exchange rates, wind direction and strength,
you name it. It also has the ability to run scripts when thresholds are crossed
- that is *REALLY USEFUL* when setting up a site the way I like it - ie it
tells you if something has changed, and you then go and check up. On one site,
I was monitoring the number of incoming emails, and a major increase heralded
the arrival of another virus propagating itself... that allowed us to
disconnect from the net within seconds, research, and put a fix in place well
before any major damage has beem done.
If you use the alternate RRD backend, then you can also display more thn one
pair of data per graph. I recommend anyone who is looking after machines, comms
equipment, or anything similar to spend the time necessary to get your hear
around this tool.
Only problem is that it's all in perl (: Even so, Tobi has made a huge
contribution to the quality of life of SysAdmins.

What's wrong with perl then eh? ;-)
