To get the interview you need to look better than the ones who don't and the same applies for each step towards the job offer. Whatever it takes for the particular circumstance. In my case some customers (or potential customers) simply like my attitude and personality and others want the assurance that their "supplier" has the nous or experience to do the job. Sometimes I miss out because I do not have the "piece of paper".
