Hi All
I have a problem with a fat16 file system which I want to save, where 1
particular directory and its contents can not be deleted, the msg is
'read-only file system'. It mounts as vfat and only 1 directory appears
to be faulty. The various 'files' have garbage as filenames and may be
crosslinked.
I have tried rm with various options to no avail. dosfsck did not fix it.
I booted windows from a floppy to a dos prompt, chkdsk failed on long
paths & scandisk locked up checking the dir structure.
Is it possible to directly over-write the directory inode using dd or
any other utility?
