Well the big improvement, IMHO, with Dell computers over the last year or so 
is that their mobos and other cards are not Dell branded and can be changed 
for "off the shelf" components.

This makes them far more attractive to those concerned about expensive 
failures.

I think the same applies to most of the Compaq desktops now too.

This was one of the reasons I used to steer customers away from them but it no 
longer applies. (As far as I understand)
