Making Google Earth run fast on an IBM t23

How do I do it?

GE is dragging...  it just sits there refreshing the map all the time. 
How do I lighten it up?

GE Linux, Mandriva 2007, Ibm T23, 256mb ram, Telstra Clear 2mb
