The satellite connectivity is provided by BayCity Networks of Timaru
(www.baycity.co.nz) and marketed by Farmside (www.farmside.co.nz). The
basic package (nominally 256Kbps down/128Kbps up), including equipment
installation and rental, is about $145 a month, discounted to $100 if
he's a CRT member (but to get that discounted rate via CRT, he has to
sign up before the end of this month).

I've had that service for almost a year (at a remote location in the
Sounds) and have found the download speed reliably 256Kbps, the upload
speed NEVER as high as 128Kbps.

Wireless Nation (www.wirelessnation.co.nz) has attractive-looking plans
too, although AFAIK no discount for members of any of the rural coops.
