If you don't mind me saying Roger, you need to sit down with a basic bash tutorial. There are more than you can handle, so pick the one(s) you like best. Everything you learn about bash scripting you can re-use as-is on the command line. Any skill here will allow you to do things with 5-liners a Microsoftie[1] can never dream of. That includes trivial backup methods, automating things when they are non-interactive, and a gazillion other things you discover when you get there.
