For example a modern computer will not power up without pushing the on
button, and turning it on at the wall does not do much at all.
This probably varies per printer model.
The push button just shorts some contacts, so you could extend the
wires (maybe using a pair in some cat5) to a push button in the house.
This would require warrantee-negating modifications tho'.
