This is the only item I've tried, with apparently the same error, on
another box that has GNOME 2.16.1.
It's an Edgy/6.10 install, with all the updates, and there's other
faults apparent too ('can't initialize HAL', & automount USB has died).
Hadn't had it running a week, and few, quite bog standard, extra
packages put in.

the others all work fine.
..you get the above "Authentication Rejected" message instead..
