God yes I remember getting redhat 4.something going on a 486 from a cd
that came in the back of a book. The joy of the first twm X session. The
awe at xfishtank. The pain of rebooting to windows to use the modem to
find the answer to the next problem. The joy at google beta actually
finding answers to linux questions when altavista search had been so poor..
<python mode=yorkshireman> None of this namby pamby udev and automatic
hardware detection, oh no, we had t'strip machine down, decipher chipset
markings and recompile t'kernel on pocket calculator </python>
