Earlier today I spent some $$$ on 1 of the S&V 38 cm tv sets being sold by Countdown. Its got a very nice screen and as a tv set it goes ok. Added bonus is its 12 volt.
I got one of these for my housebus. I use it for the TV, but I have plugged my laptop in to it a couple of times. It works flawlessly at 1024x768 (but that is the native resolution of my laptop).
As a monitor it is advertised as having a resolution of 1064 x 768 BUT no way can I persuade it to run at any greater than 832 x 624. Tried it under Win98, only resolution is 640 x 480.
If you have been using a CRT monitor, your refresh rate might be set a bit higher than the 60Hz recommended for LCD.
Has anyone else tried 1 of these tv/monitors? It may be going back next week together with a complaint about false advertising/packaging.
If you can't get it to work, I have a friend who has seen mine and wants one. The two of you might be able to work something out (although if you say they are for sale at Countdown at the moment, I'll let him know). -- Later David Kirk
