Yes, they do sell IDS, generally however they also do good research and
projects. They are however also the same company who put up the prize
money for the hacking the mac competition at the CanSecWest security
conference.

Dai Zovi is credited with finding the flaw and writing the exploit.
Macaulay, who was at the conference and served as the man on the ground,
keeps the hijacked MacBook while Dai Zovi will put in a claim for the
$10,000 bounty offered by TippingPoint's Zero Day Initiative.

I think the report might not be what the first article tried to make it
appear either as another article I found paints a somewhat different
picture than the first:

Turkish hackers target Aussie websites
24th May 2007, 17:30 WST
Many of the cyber vandalism attacks reported in Australia appear to stem
from individuals or groups based in Turkey, a report has found.
The documented attacks were typically only surface-level intrusions, but
such breaches were often a pre-cursor to more insidious penetrations of
networks, according to Ken Low from network security group TippingPoint,
which conducted the survey.
The report said Australian web domains were defaced in 20,133 instances
in the eight years to May 2007, and 82 per cent involved sites with the
com.au registration.
"These are attacks that are fairly obvious," Mr Low said.
"When you see that a website's down, it means that they would have
penetrated your perimeter defences - it's just a symptom of a larger
problem."
Of the top 10 hackers responsible for attacks on Australian sites, most
appeared to have Turkish origins.
A hacker using the alias Iskorpitx was the most prolific attacker in the
eight-year period, linked to 841 incidents.
Hackbsd Crew, apparently from the Dominican Republic, was second with
449 attacks, and the Kurdish Hackers Clan was third with 398.

The above seems closer to reality than the first article.

Hmm. I brief Google around didn't turn up the report...
Must be a slow news day, it also seems like a crock to assert the high
number of NZ hackers, solely form the number of alleged hacks.
However it did turn up the fact that Tippingpoint sold intrusion
prevention systems...
I take it then they trying to step up their market penetration in NZ?
