John: I want suggestions from people who've found a reference to be *useful*, I
don't want random Google results. So, do any of your 10 last posts in this
thread come from personal experience, or is your atavism still "fuzzy"?

My tail is still a little fuzzy....

I actually quite like the Derek Jones book and is my personal current
"most used reference on C".

So it's free, online, good, I personally recommend and use it, its
about C except...not for beginners.

Alas, when I began I used the Vax C and Borland Turbo C reference
manuals. I don't believe they are online, I don't know.

My "non-evil" reference points to but one section of the C-Faq. I
didn't Google for C tutorials, I googled for the meta-answer ... "C Faq".

The C-Faq as a whole is a trusted and invaluable resource at any stage
of your C learning curve. It's saved my bacon many times. So if it
recommends Christopher's works for your stage of development, I'd go
with that....but bookmark the Faq.
