List dwellers,

Anyone, aside from me tried to listen to any of the NZ radio stations that provide internet streaming.

I've had a minor bit of trouble trying to get RDU and theedge. RDU via a site called listenlive works sometimes but not others and theedge which of course recommends windows media player throws a I have no idea how to decode this message.

I did a quick google but didn't get very far and as I'm suppose to be working shouldn't spend too much time on it but a wee bit of background noise other than my noisey cooling fan would be nice.

I'm also looking for a command line player that I could run on my intranet server box.

Any triumphs or tragedies that people could pass on.

Keep warm and have a nice day.

mplayer http://stream01.l2.co.nz:8000/RDU

url was gained by using the firefox "view info" feature - media tab,
look for types "embed".

mplayer -playlist http://www1.streaming.net.nz/meta/tvworks-edge-akl.asx

obtained similarly. (unfortunately installing mplayer may require all
sorts of extras like X to be installed on your server, as it is also a
video player. It is possible to compile mplayer without X dependencies
(it also works in framebuffers, and with aalib outputs) but I doubt that
most distros will package it that way.)
