Synergy has been a hit with the IT guys at work, it shares the
keyboard and mouse across multiple machines connected by a lan.  They
can be linux or windows as well - nice to copy text from a window on
the windows machine to the linux machine or vice versa.  Separate
desktops though.

For single desktop I think you have to have two monitors connected to
the same machine - my laptop has a desktop screen I attach when at
work. Don't think thats what you're after?

I'm aware of x2x - this allows you to transit between two screens but
they are separate desktops. I'd like to see one desktop spread across my
PC display and my laptop. I'd settle for different pages on the same
desktop; Desktop 1 on the PC, Desktop 2 on the laptop etc.
