I tried 2006.1 and had problems too, and ended up doing using the traditional install method using a SystemRescueCD to boot from. ( I like the Reiser4 f/s ) Have you checked that you have a perfect CD? The livecd-i686-installer-2007.0.iso md5sum is supposed to be:- 7a21c2f09edd51612fb2cd7984dd3577 and the file length:- 734308352 Note that when running on some linux distros the CD/DVD writer software adds 'padding' to the end of the CD/DVD. This alters the md5sum, but, if you pipe the output of the 'cat' command through the 'head' one thus:- cat /dev/hdc | head --bytes=734308352 | md5sum ( Tnx to Volker for that trick ) You will cut off the padding and hopefully get the correct sum. if you don't then you have a coaster for the schooner. > Sabayon 3.3 will load a live CD without problems. > I am loath to use the > Sabayon /usr/src/linux/.config because of THROW_IN_KITCHEN_SINK=y approach > taken. > > Does anyone run Gentoo on a recent Dell lap top and can send me their .config Sorry only for a T41 ThinkPad, or a dual P/III -- Sincerely etc. Christopher Sawtell
