WADR. It isn't. It only checks the first few sectors containing the
top level directory.

This is why some distros, noteably Debian, have a list of the md5
hashes for all the files on the DVD/CD.

I know checking the md5 hashes is a time consuming pain but, in the
long run, it has the potential of saving a lot of time, and more
especially, emotional aggravation.
