Hi,

Took the plunge this morning and did an upgrade from 7.04 to 7.10 using
the 'update-manager'. It delivered one error during the upgrade but it
doesn't appear to have caused any issue. Box rebooted fine after upgrade
and everything appears to work.

I wasn't so lucky.

Upgrading on my iBook* caused a couple of problems.
1. After upgrade I couldn't boot! It couldn't detect my hard drive - it involved typing "modprobe ide_core" at the busybox CLI followed by "exit"... I had to add it to my boot image and now it is OK!

2. It doesn't sleep and resume properly. When I shut the lid now, the display stuffs up and I have to hard reset the machine to start again.

Not impressed... a couple of major backwards steps. Thankfully Google helped track solutions to the problem - though not much came up at first - they're Gutsy Gibbon upgrade problems. Speaking German would've helped.

On my other machine it mangled a few dependencies, and doubled up a couple of libs that caused synaptic and firefox to stop working until I deleted the libs.

The net feeling is that neither system is particularly stable. I've really liked Kubuntu for the last year that I've been using it, but sorely tempted to find another one that will work better on PowerPC.
