So I'm a short sighted old fart that likes to grok as large a chunk of
code as possible. ie. I hate my screen cluttered with windows windows
windows.

I run my editor / console / firefox maximised and alt-tab between them.

Who cares about virtual desktops?

I'd use the "rat poison" window manager except gnome has basically
caught up with rat poison and more.

But one thing had me stumped.

Inkscape, gnome-terminal and firefox can go fullscreen, but how do I
get rid of that stupid wasteful border on Emacs?

Emacs wiki comes to my aid...

Gnome Panel->
 System->
  Settings->
   Preferences->
    Keyboard Shortcuts->
     Window Management->
      Toggle Full Screen Mode

I set it, sort of appropriately, to that otherwise useless Right
Microsoft Windows Logo key! ;-)

Now I can "fullscreen" anything and everything instantly. YEEHAA! I
LOVE IT!

Suddenly I feel I've clawed back all that lovely screen real estate I
lost when all this windowsy rubbish came in.

Hmm. Perhaps I can set my colour scheme to back ye olde nice gloomy
"green screen"...

Hmm. That menu bar and the mini buffer line on emacs aren't doing
anything useful right now... I wonder if I can clobber them too?
