Thanks Andrew and Chris for relating your experiences and suggesting that mixing types is a bad idea long term.
The issue was none of cost (same anyway), purely for the convenience of laying the cable. Quenstionable reliability and ugh stripping/soldering all the wires to compensate isn't a good swap.
