Whilst it's considered not be the very best of nettiquette to reply to your own postings, I thought folks might be interested to know what I have discovered and have a play with this stuff and their younger relatives and over the holiday period. After some pointers from a friendly /.er I got build 625 to run in VirtualBox. Quite impressive too I may say!
I'll be putting the VirtualBox-GPL and OLPC files into the CLUG Archive at St. Albans next time I'm over there. Not the very latest OLPC image, but apart from the sound it works well enough for me.
