Doesn't it just frustrate you when after committing nearly an hour of your life to watching a DVD, a scratch or something renders the ending unreadable?
That was my situation last night. Fortunately I have "Debian Package of the Day" on my daily reading list.... http://debaday.debian.net/ (That's the MetaTip of the Day - It's an excellent source of tips, for Ubuntu systems as well)) Which had featured gddrescue. I installed gddrescue and ran it like so... sudo apt-get install gddrescue ddrescue -r 20 -v /dev/hdd a.iso a.log (It has many other options, I didn't have time to experiment and work out which was optimal.. but that "Worked for Me at least Once") Then sudo mount -o loop a.iso /mnt xine file:///mnt And I can watch the ending of Full Metal Alchemist... A rather good series actually. John Carter Phone : (64)(3) 358 6639 Tait Electronics Fax : (64)(3) 359 4632 PO Box 1645 Christchurch Email : [EMAIL PROTECTED] New Zealand
