Permissions is often my first thought and frequently an answer to an
issue I may have. However in this situation I have no idea what I'm
looking for. Browsing through ~/.kde it APPEARS that my user has at
least rw permissions on everything though there are a heap of
sub-folders and files to look at. The permissions do vary a little with
the roger group sometimes having rw, sometimes not. So I don't know for
sure whether this is an issue or not. And I'm not prepared to blindly
do some sort of global chmod +rw !!
I should add at this point that this installation of kubuntu made use of
the previous SuSE home folder which basically went without any problem
at all, aside from some minor reconfiguration of email etc. So this
would lend support to the theory that it is a permissions thing.
Anyone have any clues about what/where I ought to focus? I am googling,
but there's lots of stuff about permissions and I haven't found my
answer yet.
Cheers,
Roger

Permissions perhaps?

One of the simplest desktop configurations - changing background picture

Anyone struck this before or know what might be stopping it being
configured? kubuntu gutsy.
