Good stuff. Boots reasonably quickly, and has a range of play options. Played the one wmv test file I had. Nifty thing to have. What I don't like about it is its deadly silence on many kind of user input. Options/preferences for example, the only way out of many of them is by using the <- (cancel) key. Nice if it said waht was going on. The other job I needed a live disk for was to get a scanner going with vuescan. Tried suse 103 KDE live, which worked fine except for not auto-fixing the permissions on the scanner USB device, and for having libstdc++ 6 when vuescan needs 5. The latter fixed by making use of the local hard disk, needed for saving scans anyway. Beats kubuntu 7.10 hollow though - only thing that had going for it was that it booted, but it ran the LCD monitor at a wrong and totally illegible resolution, and provided a keyboard on which pressing any key had no descernible effect whatsoever. No doubt any number of other geenralpurpose live systems are somewhere in between.
