Kia ora list,

Apologies for leaving this and Tuesday's meeting thread in limbo awhile.

It was a great meeting on Tuesday - lots of new faces, adding to an attendance of 25 by my count, with the usual bulk commentary and banter to supplement Yuri and Julia's excellent beginners' guides to the world of FOSS. A good time had by all. Thanks!

Greetings CLUGgers,

Rik tells me that now that he has taken on other obligations, he would
prefer not to be committed to providing his data projector on a
regular basis.

Is there anybody or organisation on the list who could provide CLUG
with the use of a data projector for a couple of hours once a month?

To explain, my new job is causing many changes, especially being much less able to:

a) Get in front of a computer;

b) Read emails;

c) Reply to emails;

d) Enjoy free time.

But I logged on just before Tuesday's meeting to check whether the data projection was differently sorted, and showed up since it was not.

In response to Chris's question then, it was to say that if anyone else has access to a data projector and would like to take on that side of meeting facilitation, then now is a good time to volunteer.

Sometimes I have meeting clashes on CLUG night, sometimes not. It's going to be a busy year and hard to predict how each month will be affected, but I hope to be there some of the time at least.

The problem is the projector cost a lot and is uninsured, secured by constant vigilance instead. So there is the matter of risk should it ever be loaned out, which to me is easiest simply avoided.

(What is saved on premiums would cover most that could be lost, on my low asset base, under this policy.)

What does our resident lawyer think CLUG should do?

Many a fine gnu/linux evening has been shared over the past few years, and long may they continue.

Cheers,

Rik Tindall
