Nick thanks for this - I have an .iso of a DVD that is too big to burn onto a standard 4.7GB disc. I can't work out how to make dvdrip read it and transcode it. Any suggestions? (And yes it's a format shift...)

Probably the best is dvd::rip which is packaged in most distros. The package name is usually dvdrip (omitting the double colon). -- Nick Rout
