Probably. Do you want to hear the sound at the same time, or capture to file instead of outputting data? What is the program you want to capture output from? Does it allow you to specify the alsa output device to use? Both have alsa input plugins that allow an app to send audio to the server, where it can be distributed to multiple places (recording, speakers etc) Checking out whether the setup works I'd recommend using ALSAs aplay and arecord applications to start with.
