view with:-
mplayer -fs

Seems to work for me giving 10secs per picture.

ps It's much simpler to use gwenview in slideshow mode.

But I'm not sure that the trams would approve.  :-)

Also, please be aware that many reasonably modern DVD players will do
slide-shows of jpegs on CD/DVD discs via the TV.
