Hi - it was not a good day yesterday, embarrassingly I appear to have in the interim further trashed my wiki, now I only have a 404 not found error. Totally my fault for stumbling around blindly not knowing what I was doing instead of waiting for your good advice. Too much to do, insufficient resources, not enough time, blah blah... It's times/outcomes like this I consider a career change and am glad of my policy of having no hammers near any computers!

The up side to all this is - I have (manually created) dumps of the mysql wiki database. This installation was an experiment, that proved the concept of this being a good (in fact excellent) solution for our documentation needs. It was just running on my workstation, and needs to go on the server. I'll get over myself soon enough and come back to it - I need to spend today doing things that will work or that I won't break :-(

Thanks for your reply.
Roger

Hurro,

What's the apache log got to say for itself? It might just be a file
permission issue.

tail -f /var/log/apache2/access.log while you refresh the home page of
your wiki and tell us what you're getting...

Cheers, Chris H.

You don't have permission to access /mediawiki1.9/index.php/Main_Page on this server.

My googling just shows up how little I know about apache and mediawiki - it was quite a bit of luck that I got it running in the first place. While looking through some installation guides I'm guessing it needs to be reconfigured but have no idea where to start. Any pointers would be gratefully received and studied.

Cheers,
Roger
