The list manager probably uses mainly the envelope sender to identify the poster - this being the intended use of it. Sender: is purely optional (its function by RFC is somewhat undefined I understand), and I don't think many mail clients would even generate it. It's generated by mailing list managers, but not by politically correct ones. The qmail-based list manager (ezmlm?) also uses envelope-from, so would have similar behaviour to CLUG's one. The only way to deal with any list manager is to use the msg configuration each time, often without knowing exactly which bits of information of the msg are relevant. From: may not even be used, though there may be other places, on-campus or client-side, which enforce a correct From:. One thing to be aware of is that envelope-from changes when moving around - it's dependent on the local mail-sending setup. That's why posting from different providers doesn't work when it's used by the list manager.
