I have an annoying problem with my Lenny system.
I'm running KDE and the only thing not installed via apt-get is Opera

After a few hours things start to fall apart, and i get a succession of errors all telling me that pretty much the same thing, that various things can no longer be done because of all the files that had become read only. Not having a clue how to deal with this i inevitably reboot, however even that fails when mysql refuses to shutdown owing to not being about to write to a lock file in /var/something, thus freezing and leaving little option but hit the big nasty button on the front of the machine.
If things are going read-only, that normally means a file system error and its been remounted ro to protect your data.
Run mount and see if anything is (ro) Could be a drive on the way out,
or a filesystem with errors.
