well you can also do a kickstart without nfs and nfs without kickstart. I agree that bootp/netboot is a great way to start an install. I have prided myself in the past on installing to machines without a floppy or a CD and without removing the hard drive. Can be tricky at times. My recollection of redhat was that it was faster to install from the network (at 100Mbps) than from optical disk.
