I'm late to this thread sorry... but it really is easy using Audacity. Dick Smith had some turntables a couple of years ago with RCA outputs and a built in pre-amp promoted as suitable for computer recording. I've seen them on TradeMe from time to time for around a hundy. I bought one and I have had a lot of fun resurrecting a pile of stuff from my teenage years in the 70's. Its a time consuming process but oh the memories just come flooding back....
