And what are you running? If any of the 8.10 *buntus, ignore all the out-of-date advice on the Interwebs regarding installing additional packages. It often (based on very limited personal experience and some Googling) Just Works if you leave it as a standard setup and enable the backports repository. (And update and upgrade forthwith.) Installing ndiswrapper may or may not adversely affect your results. Roy.
